Rodi Kratsa has a long service in the European political scene, with important roles in high positions. Member of the European Parliament from 1999, she was elected 1st Vice-President of the European Parliament in 2007 and elected again in 2009. She had the important responsibilities, such as the conciliation procedure, the communication and information of the EP, the Euro-Mediterranean relations, as well as representing the EP at the Summits and Inter-ministerial Conferences.

She studied Sociology at the University of Geneva and continued post-graduate studies at the Institute of European Studies at the same University.

Responsibilities as Member of the European Parliament (2009-2014)

Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Member of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, Member of the Committee on Regional Development_Member of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), Member of the Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria), Member of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat), Member of the Delegation for relations with Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay), Member of the Working Group for the Middle-East.

Responsibilities in the Bureau of the European Parliament as Vice-President (2007-2012)

Conciliation (negotiation with the Council for the final shaping of european legislation, in the framework of the co-decision procedure), Information and Communication Policy, Euromediterranean cooperation including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), President of the PA-UfM Working Group on the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI), Euro-arab relations (founded by the EU and Arab League).

She represented the European Parliament at high-level meetings such as the G8 Speakers' Conference in Tokyo (2008), the G20 Speakers' Consultation in Seoul (2011) and various Ministerial meetings.

Rodi Kratsa has also received honorary distinctions from head of States and numerous organizations at European and international levels.
