About the job:

We are seeking for the Head of Accounting Department to join our Branch team based in Frankfurt. The Frankfurt branch has been established in Germany since 1998 and is a branch in accordance with Section 53b of the German Banking Act (KWG).

As the Head of Accounting Department, you will be responsible for the effective, valid and timely processing of the branch's financial, administrative, support and reporting functions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, records and control the accounting operations and tasks of the department.
  • Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, statistical reports and regulatory reports for the German regulatory authorities (reporting), the Bank of Greece, the Bank's internal departments, IFRS reporting and the Branch Manager, in accordance with specified deadlines.
  • Deals with staff payroll (payments, creation of statements, declarations to tax authorities, insurance funds etc.).
  • Controls and is responsible for the reconciliation of the temporary / interim general ledger accounts of the department and the Branch and ensures that they are settled.
  • Checks and approves transaction documents or evidence in accordance with applicable authorized signature limits.
  • Is the contact person for the German authorities as well as for the internal departments of the bank.

 

Qualifications

  • BSc in Finance, Banking, or related field
  • At least 6 years of experience in the field of Accounting, of which 3 years of experience in a position of responsibility.
  • Excellent knowledge of the German and very good knowledge of the English & Greek language
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) and SQL
  • Very strong analytical skills and problem solving mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
