Athanasios Ellis is Editor in Chief of Kathimerini English Edition which is published in Greece and Cyprus along with the New York Times as a single paper.

He was for many years Washington correspondent for Kathimerini as well as television and radio stations.

During his career he has interviewed numerous foreign leaders and heads of international institutions, among them Turkish leaders Recep Tayip Erdogan, Abdullah Gul and Ahmet Davutoglu, French Presidents Nikola Sarkozy and Emmanuel Macron, US Vice President Joe Biden, European Commission Presidents Jean-Claude Junker and Jose Manuel Barroso, IMF Managing Directors Kristalina Georgieva, Christine Lagarde and Dominique Strauss Khan, and ECB President Jean Claude Trichet and Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann.

As an international correspondent he has reported from various foreign capitals, including Washington (and United Nations headquarters in New York), Beijing, Tokyo, Brussels, Berlin, London, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Ankara, Nicosia and Cairo.

He has appeared on international media to analyze issues relating to Greece, from national elections, the economic crisis and relations with Turkey, to Greece’s preparation for the 2004 Olympic Games, etc.

He holds a B.A. from Boston University in Economics and Political Science, a M.A. from B.U. in International Relations, and a Diploma in Journalism from New York University.
