Innovation and technology are changing the world and peoples’ lives.
Germany has a long tradition of being at the forefront of technological innovation. Around 33,700 companies in Germany are continuously active in research and development; more than 181,400 companies regularly bring new products and services onto the market.
There is high demand for technology products made in Germany.
Germany has an above-average number of ‘hidden champions’. These are usually small and medium-sized enterprises that are world market leaders for their products and services.
Science and research is conducted within a national and international context.
The German-Greek Research and Innovation Programme is a very successful cooperation.
The Programme addresses collaborative projects of applied research, development and innovation in research areas which are important for both countries, such as health, bioeconomy, energy, humanities and social sciences, materials and key enabling technologies.
It was launched in 2013 and is the only multidisciplinary bilateral programme between Germany and another EU member state. More than 100 partners in Greece and Germany have participated in the programme. Over the summer of 2021, both countries signed a declaration of intent to strengthen their cooperation in the field of research.
