Ioannis Tsougos is a Professor at the University of Thessaly's Department of Medicine, where he leads the Medical Informatics and Biomedical Imaging Laboratory. He extends his expertise internationally as a Visiting Professor at the Neuroimaging Department of King’s College London and collaborates with the Institute of Applied BioSciences at the Center for Research and Technology.

His research focuses on the integration of advanced imaging techniques and artificial intelligence in Biomedical Imaging, with a specialized focus on precision medicine in cancer and radiobiology concerning ionizing radiation. His academic qualifications include dual Master's degrees in Medical Physics and Medical Education, and a PhD in Medical Physics - Radiobiology.

He has contributed to over 120 papers in international scientific journals, accumulating more than 2350 citations with an h-index of 26. He is also the author of the book "Advanced MR Neuroimaging" published by Routledge, and has co-authored more than 15 book chapters in the field of medical imaging and physics.

His leadership roles extend to his service as the President of the Faculty Members' Association and a member of the Steering Committee of the European Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics. Previously, he has also held the position of Vice Dean at the Department of Medicine, University of Thessaly, Greece.
